Italy's Digital Nomad Tax Policy

Italy launched the Digital Nomad Visa in March 2022. However, nearly two years have passed without the Italian government providing official guidelines or requirements on how to obtain this visa. Finally, on April 5, 2024, Italy released a decree related to the Digital Nomad Visa and has begun accepting applications from qualified individuals.

The Italian Digital Nomad Visa is valid for up to one year, allowing visa holders to enter and exit Italy multiple times. Holders can also apply for eligible family members simultaneously. The Digital Nomad Visa is not subject to annual immigration quotas.

Applicants must submit their Digital Nomad Visa application at the Italian embassy and apply for a residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) within eight days of arriving in Italy. The residence permit is valid for up to one year and can be renewed.
