Barbados’ Tax Policies for Digital Nomads

On June 30, 2020, Barbados, a Caribbean island nation, officially launched its digital nomad visa, known as the Barbados Welcome Stamp. This visa is valid for 12 months and can be renewed. It also allows for unlimited entries and exits during its validity period. The application requirements include the following:

  • The applicant must have earned a minimum annual income of USD 50,000 (approximately RMB 350,000) over the past 12 months.
  • Proof of employment is required, either by providing verification of employment with an existing overseas company (e.g., a company based in China) or proof of ownership of a non-Barbadian business.
  • Valid identification documents for the applicant and any accompanying family members (if applicable), meaning family members can apply together.
  • A valid passport for the applicant and any accompanying family members.
  • Proof of relationship for accompanying family members (if applicable).
  • Proof of valid and sufficient medical insurance coverage.
