Albania's Tax Policies for Digital Nomads

In early 2022, the Eastern European country of Albania introduced the Law on Foreigners, which includes the Unique Permit Scheme. This program allows digital nomads to apply for a Type D visa through an online visa portal. The application process is expected to take around 12 weeks, and family members can apply alongside the primary applicant. Visa holders are permitted to stay in Albania for one year, with the option to renew for up to five years. What sets Albania apart from most other countries is that digital nomads can eventually apply for permanent residency after meeting eligibility requirements.
