Tax Appeal of Bulgarian Immigration

Bulgaria offers a relatively under-the-radar EU citizenship by investment program. One distinctive feature of their program is the so-called "two-step" process: the first step involves investing €512,000 for permanent residency, followed by a second investment of €512,000 to apply for citizenship after approval. Investment options include Bulgarian stocks, Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), Private Equity (PE), Venture Capital (VC), hedge funds, and others. The entire investment immigration process takes approximately 18 months.

Compared to other European CBI programs, Bulgaria's is less popular. So, can its tax laws offer us any pleasant surprises?
